Sub Domain(fourth/fifth level) Registration Service:
It allows to register Sub Domains (fourth/fifth level) under an active 3rd level domain which is hosted in NIC Data Centre. For example abc.xyz.gov.in / abc.def.xyz.gov.in is a fourth/fifth level domain under a 3rd level domain name xyz.gov.in.

The state governments can register a third-level domain name under GOV.IN and then the fourth/fifth level sub domains can be registered for its various Ministries / Departments / Organisations etc. For example, Government of Delhi may register a third-level domain name like delhi.gov.in and then the sub domains may be registered for its various Departments like education.delhi.gov.in, tourism.delhi.gov.in, transport.delhi.gov.in etc.

Similarly a Department/Organisation can register a third-level domain name under GOV.IN and then the department can register fourth/fifth level domains for its various branches/divisions/offices across the country. For example, Comptroller and Auditor General of India(CAG) may register third-level a domain like cag.gov.in and then it may further register the fourth/fifth level domains for its various offices across the country like agup.cag.gov.in, agmp.cag.gov.in, agtn.cag.gov.in etc.

The fourth/fifth level sub domain registrations are entertained here only for those third-level domains which are hosted in NIC Data Centre. If you are already having a third-level domain name, but the domain is hosted with other ISP (not NIC), then contact that ISP to register a sub domains under it.

The eligibility requirements for obtaining a sub domain is same as the eligibility requirements for 3rd level domain under GOV.IN.

The domain naming conventions are also same as 3rd level domain under GOV.IN.
Steps to Register a Sub Domain :
- Submit the sub-domain registration request:
Login - > Subdomain Services - > Register Subdomain
- Submit the sub-domain activation request by uploading letter duely signed. The letter must be signed by the owner of the Domain (Administrative/Organisational contact)

Once the above written registration process is completed, the Domain Registration Team will process the request and user will be notified via email.
Note: As per the present policy, there is no fee for the sub domain (fourth/fifth level) name registration under GOV.IN Domain space. However, if there is any change in the policy it will be notified to all the registered users.
